I was running this blog on my home UVerse connection since 2006, but decided that I wanted to reduce my reliance on my personal Internet account in order to facilitate moving out to the country.
A friend told me about Kimsufi dedicated hosting, and it fit my situation exactly. As such, I started renting a Kimsufi server, and moved everything off of my UVerse connection. However, I have VERY little time for system administration, so my Web site has been essentially offline for a couple months.
I unexpectedly found myself with about half an hour of downtime, which was exactly the amount of time I needed to move my database and code base to my new server, and to convert all of my PHP code from using the "<?" PHP short tag to using the "<?PHP" long tag.
Hopefully, the entire conversion worked.

This is long overdue, but the transition worked very well. I don't remember how long it took me to do the full transition, but I do remember being happy when everything worked with so little effort.
